Alberta’s Agriculture and Forestry Minister Devin Dreeshen has been promoting the Province’s interests south of the border.

The Minister was recently at the Pacific Northwest Economic Region conference in Montana and he says one of the main topics discussed was about improving international trade.

“Obviously there’s been challenges in the last couple of years, but it is great to see really innovative thinking to make sure that we can continue our millions of dollars of trade that crosses that border both ways every day to make sure that whether it’s our energy sector, forestry sector or agriculture sector, that we’re getting our goods to market and we can keep people employed on both sides of the border.”

We also talked about the global demand for Agriculture and Forestry products and Dreeshen highlighted some recent investments that have been made in those industries.

“We are seeing millions of dollars of investments in mills and mill upgrades in Northern Alberta and across the province. We’re seeing new value added investments into agriculture and we have some really exciting news that hopefully in the next few weeks and months, we’ll be able to announce on the Ag side. I think it’s really great to see the confidence in knowing that our primary resource economy is valuable.”
