Mass gathering restrictions forces cancellations of summer festivals and events

Doctor Deena Hinshaw says the restrictions for groups of 15 or more will be in place for the summer.

In her daily update, Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, says the social distancing rules to limit the spread of COVID-19 need to remain place.

Even with gatherings of fewer than 15 people, they are suggested to maintain a distance of at least two metres.

This means rodeos all over the Peace and Mackenzie regions will likely be cancelled this year.

The Calgary Stampede, Grande Prairie Stompede and the Big Valley Jamboree are three significant summer events in Alberta that have already been called off due to the coronavirus.
