If you are stopping by a fast-food restaurant, you could end up driving away with more than you payed for.

The Alberta Government gave packages containing four non-medical masks each to approximately 600 A&W, McDonalds and Tim Hortons locations to be distributed to customers.

“We’re proud to be the first province in Canada to support residents with free masks for use in situations where physical distancing may not be possible,” says Health Minister, Tyler Shandro.

“Thank you to our restaurant partners, franchise owners and staff members, who are volunteering their time and effort to distribute these masks.”

The masks are being offered to customers at no cost and the province is asking people to respect the limit of one package per-Albertan.

Masks have also been provided municipalities, First Nations communities, Metis Settlements, and local agencies.

This includes rural and remote communities that do not have access to a partner restaurant drive-thru and are developing their own distribution plans.
