Man In Custody After Threats And Assault

Fort Vermilion RCMP have a man in custody following a domestic violence incident where a female was assaulted and threatened with a firearm.

Officers received a complaint at around 2 AM on Monday where the victim of the assault fled from a residence on the Little Red River Cree Nation.

Police found the suspect driving in the area and when they arrested him, they seized two unloaded firearms from his truck.

The 43 year old male is still in custody, the list of charges is as follows.

· Possession of a firearm while prohibited
· Possess a weapon for a dangerous purpose
· Careless use of a firearm
· Driving while prohibited
· Uttering threats
· Use of a firearm in the commission of an offence
· Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized

The victim did not suffer critical injuries.
