Non-profit organizations in Mackenzie County can make grant applications to the County
Josh Knelson, the Reeve of the County, says these organizations have become more important in recent years.
“We’ve seen in the last few years more and more and I’m sure we’ll be looking at the more-so this year as funds get tighter and tighter. The money is usually available and these organizations become that much more important.”
Knelson adds that these groups have played a major role in providing recreation options in the region.
“Many of these grants that we provide are based on matching grants or then applying for other grants from either the province or the federal government. It’s a lot of work but these non-profit groups deserve a lot of credit because they’ve put in a lot of work to make our communities a better place.”
Applications can be made on the County website and all the County offices, the deadline is October 15.
