Central Peace-Notley MLA Todd Loewen says he’ll be campaigning in support of the equalization referendum that will happen on October 18.
Loewen says the referendum is “very important” for getting a fair deal for Alberta.
“I’m concerned that the lack of popularity of the Premier may actually hurt the chances of that equalization referendum getting as much support as it could from Albertans. I want to make sure that Albertans are aware of that process.”
Loewen calls it quote “a chance to send a strong message to Ottawa”.
“Our tax dollars continuing to go east and not returning in the program is not acceptable anymore. We’ve been paying way more than our fair share and I think Albertans are willing to pay their fair share but not more than that.”
The equalization referendum was one of the recommendations from the Province’s Fair Deal Panel, along with a Chief Firearms Officer, and a Provincial Police Force.
