Central Peace-Notley MLA, Todd Loewen says provincial dollars from Alberta’s economic recovery plan will go towards local communities.

The Municipal District of Smoky River is getting an injection of $5,045,400 to help with bridge work, and the Municipal District of Peace will receive $459,000 to work on a bridge in the community.

The Municipal District of Fairview is working on a new water treatment plant, as well as other related water upgrades in the community and will be getting $375,000.

The Village of Rycroft will receive $433,500 for a lift station upgrade as well as work on the sewer force main.

Loewen says this is a win for everyone.

“This gets people back to work and at the same time, we get infrastructure built that is very necessary within these communities,” says Loewen.

“We have bridge work, road work as well as water facilities so quite a variety.”

The money comes specifically from the Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program.
