“Alberta, you’re crushing it”

Those words from premier Jason Kenney today as he announced the Government’s Open for Summer Plan.

It’s a three stage plan that could see Alberta return to life as normal by the end of June or early July.

Restrictions start to ease this week.
On Friday, places of worship will be allowed a 15% capacity limit.

On Tuesday, June 1st, we fully launch into stage 1.
Outdoor gatherings can increase to 10, personal & wellness services such as hairdressers can open for appointments, restaurants can re-open patios, outdoor sports & recreation can start for up to 10 people, and retail can increase to 15% of fire code occupancy.

Stage 2 could take place as soon as June 10th, if 60% of Albertans 12+ have at least one dose of the vaccine, and hospitals have below 500 cases and are declining.

Stage 2 would see a re-opening of movie theatres and libraries, restaurants can open for groups up to 6, outdoor gatherings will increase to 20, indoor fitness will be allowed, and we’ll see an increase for retails and worship.

Stage 3 could take place by June 28th.
It would kick in if 70% of Albertans age 12+ have at least one dose of the vaccine.
Kenney says he is optimistic that we will enter stage 3 by at least early July – which would mean a return to normal.

Kenney reiterated how important it is that we all get vaccinated.
“The vaccines are safe, and the vaccines work. They are our ticket back to normal. We are truly near the end of this thing.”
