Hines Creek man arrested on 37 outstanding warrants

Berwyn, Alta. – On Sept. 2, 2021, Western Alberta District RCMP Rural Crime Reduction Unit executed a warrant at a residence in Berwyn, Alta. A warrant was obtained by RCMP as Stephen Taylor is alleged to have fled from police several times during attempts to apprehend him.

Stephen Douglas Taylor, 38-years-old, of Hines Creek, Alta., was arrested on 37 outstanding warrants for a variety of property and person related crimes which reportedly occurred throughout the Peace Region area. Stephen Taylor is facing multiple additional charges including:

  • several counts of failing to comply with previously set bail conditions,
  • possession of a reportedly stolen property over $5000,
  • possession of a prohibited weapon, and
  • possession of controlled drugs and substances: suspected methamphetamine.

After an in-custody judicial hearing, Stephen Taylor has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear on Sept. 8, 2021, in Peace River Provincial Court.

“The sheer volume of Mr. Taylor’s warrants and new charges speak to the impact that one individual can have with respect to rural crime within the region” says Corporal Chris Power of the Western Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit. “Our unit is dedicated to providing support to detachments by deploying specialized investigational tactics to identify, locate and arrest individuals who are preying upon rural Albertans in the commission of criminal acts”.
