High Prairie ATM theft triggers investigation

HIGH PRAIRIE — RCMP in High Prairie are continuing their investigation, after an ATM was stolen from a local pharmacy.

Police responded to an alarm at the pharmacy on April 14th at approximately 5 a.m. on 49th street. When officers arrived at the scene, they noticed an extensive amount of damage in and around the building, which an investigation revealed was caused by a truck that was used to attempt to enter the building. The unidentified suspects would then enter the building and remove the ATM from the premises.

RCMP would then respond to a complaint of a truck fire at around 7 a.m that same morning, which was discovered along Range Road 180 between Township Roads 734 and 732. The truck, which was an older model GMC crew cab pickup with a slip tank in the rear, was engulfed in flames. The stolen ATM was found at the scene and has been recovered.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the incident are asked to call High Prairie RCMP  at 780-532-3378, call your local police, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
