High Level Mayor Wants People To Stay Vigilant About COVID

document-2

With the number of active cases of COVID-19 in the Mackenzie starting to increase, High Level Mayor Crystal McAteer says she wants local residents and businesses to stay vigilant.

She says the recent increase in cases around the area is “alarming” so town officials have ramped up their messaging efforts.

“We went around and spoke to all the businesses about the importance of bringing back their protocols like two people from a family in a store, the social distancing and the lines and the arrows and everything else.”

McAteer says the Town is also not having events that could potentially draw large crowds.

“The large crowds in our area seem to be on the eastern side of the river as there’s large church gatherings, weddings, funerals, etc. We haven’t had a lot of large gatherings here, we’ve cancelled most everything that would’ve brought in a large crowd.”

McAteer says they’re concerned about the number of cases in the Mackenzie because of the Town being a central hub for the region.

Town council has been presented with a petition about wearing masks in public places and McAteer says they will be debating that at an upcoming council meeting.
