HFCRD provides funds to Support Ukrainian Students
(January 31, 2023) The Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD) has provided support to schools that have Ukrainian students enrolled. The HFCRD is supporting 11 students in the Division who are enrolled at Good Shepherd School and Glenmary School in Peace River, Rosary School in Manning, and St. Stephen’s in Valleyview. The support is due to $5,500 in funding per-student from the Alberta Government. Click here for more information from November’s announcement from the provincial government.

“These students and their families have been through times that many could never imagine,” says Superintendent, Betty Turpin. “Our goal is always to give all our students the best education in a caring, safe and Christ-centered environment. Therefore, we want to do everything we can to make these student’s transition to a new community and new school as seamless as possible.”

One school extended a part time teacher’s full time equivalency as well as extra hours for an Educational Assistant. Other schools hired individuals from the community who are fluent in Ukrainian to offer individual student support and classroom support. Our goal is to put program support in place so that the students can be successful.
