Golf Tour: High Prairie and District Golf Club

Stop number three on the Great KIX FM and River Country Golf Tour takes Damien and I out to High Prairie. I talked with Course Manager Lee Hunt about the amenities and exciting events the course is hosting for the remainder of the golf season. Hunt had lots to talk about regarding tournaments, course conditions, as well as the golf shop and restaurant.

The hole on the course that hunt enjoys the most is number four. It’s a 179 yard par 3 and your tee shot needs to carry the Iroquois creek and settle on the green quickly to leave yourself with a chance for birdie. Six of the nine holes on the course have water hazards meaning shots need to be precise or scores can add up really quickly.

When you finish your round, or before you start, Spike lounge is located at the course and has the largest patio in the High Prairie area with over 1,000 square feet of space. Hunt says the lounge has a chef on staff that prepares daily specials along with the regular menu. Spike lounge is a great place to stop for a bite, even if you’re not a golfer, as the lounge is open to the public for lunch and dinner.

There are three leagues, Men’s on Wednesdays and Ladies on Tuesdays. Couples night runs bi-weekly on Thursday and includes a meal. One of the upcoming tournaments for the course is a 3 Person Flighted Scramble on August 7, 2021 and on August 21-22, 2021 is the marquee High Prairie Open.
