Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope remembers 40 years since it ended this month. Usually people across the world commemorate it by running the annual “Terry Fox Run”, by this year is different with COVID-19.

Glenmary School is taking on the “40 for Forty” challenge in light of the run, by doing 40 things of physical activity instead. Teacher at Glenmary, Kellie Cohen says she’s “I think they’ll enjoy it next week when they can just put their pencils and books down and go outside for forty minutes of physical activity. I think it will be a nice break for them.” The whole school is partaking in the socially distanced challenge in separated groups throughout the entire school week.

Glenmary School is also asking their students to raise funds for the Terry Fox Foundation for Cancer Research with a “Toonie for Terry” as well as posting to their Instagram’s of themselves doing forty of something with the hashtag #BeLikeTerry. Cohen says to keep an eye out on the schools track, as many of the students will be doing their “40 for Forty” challenge out there during the week.
