Fort Vermillion RCMP advises residents of Fox Lake to shelter in place – Update #2

Fox Lake, Alta. – On June 10, 2024, at approximately 10:05 p.m., Fort Vermillion RCMP were informed of a shooting that had taken place minutes before at the barge lineup in Fox Lake. The adult male victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries as a result. The investigation is ongoing and, at this time, the identity of the suspect, or suspects, is unknown.

Fort Vermillion RCMP are seeking public assistance in locating witnesses to this event in order to gather more information. Fort Vermilion RCMP officers were busy early this morning dealing with a firearm-related complaint in Fox Lake.

An armed suspect was believed to be within the community and officers issues a shelter in place for residents while they were looking for the suspect.

The shelter in place was lifted just after 3:00 this morning, and police say they will provide an update once more information becomes available.
