Federal Candidate Profile – Chris Warkentin

He’s been a Member of Parliament since 2006 and he’s once again running for a seat in the House of Commons.

Chris Warkentin is the Conservative candidate for Grande Prairie-Mackenzie and he says his motivation for running is about quote “turning this country around.”

“When I look at where we’re at, I think of the opportunities and the freedoms that I took for granted as a young person. When I consider that my kids are now teenagers, we’ve got to take this country back in the direction of ensuring that people can have the freedoms and the opportunities that we have had as long standing rights in this country. I have grown increasingly concerned about the direction of the current government.”

Warkentin he says he wants to get more people employed in the region’s energy sector.

“We know that there’s growing demand for energy, oil and gas producers around the world are growing in market share wealth, yet the Canadian market share continues to shrink. We know that there’s opportunities in the Peace Country, we know that they’ve been proven, but what we do also know is that we have a government that really has tried to phase that sector out in the Province of Alberta. I think that has had a negative impact in our communities.”
