One of the candidates in Grande Prairie is the subject of our latest election candidate profile.
Shawn McLean is running for the People’s Party in the riding, he says one of the main things he’s heard from local residents is on growing the oil and gas sector.
“Obviously pipelines are an issue. The fact that our federal government is actively trying to destroy our economy in Alberta, we need a pipeline corridor. We need to act as a country where we support each other and we need to be able to bring oil and gas jobs back to Alberta because that’s one of our biggest commodities and it’s what Canada relies on.”
He says the topic of equalization payments has come up in his discussions with locals.
“The PPC is the only party that’s actually going to do something about changing that for Alberta and for the rest of the country. Our country is in dire need of being corrected, and being fixed from what the Liberals and the CPC have actually done. Corruption is a huge issue on the tops of everyone’s minds.”
The federal election will be taking place on Monday.
