Downtown Fire in Peace River

A fire gutted a building in downtown Peace River on Sunday Morning.

Fire crews from Peace River and the surrounding area got the call at 8:58am as they were preparing for a special ceremony to honour Firefighters National Memorial Day.
It’s a day that is celebrated every year on the second Sunday of September.

Emergency crews raced to Mainstreet to find Juliette’s Place ablaze.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire from spreading to either RBC or Peace Pipe Cannabis.
The Shamrock Boxing Club did sustain water damage.  A GoFundMe page has been set-up to support the club.

Work continued throughout the day and into the night.
ATCO workers were on scene until past 1:30am to replace a power pole and restore electricity to the area.

Peace River Fire Department Investigators are expected on scene Monday morning to try and determine the cause of the fire.
