Construction of a new renal dialysis clinic at the High Prairie Health Complex is set to start this month. The construction of the new unit is expected to take around ten months.

The facility is expected to open around early 2022 after necessary staff are recruited and trained, and construction is completed. The growing demand for the unit will be able to serve patients currently needing care and in the future. Anybody currently needing dialysis needs to travel outside of the community to get treatment.

The clinic will have six stations and will be able and open to treat 12 patients a day, three times per week.

In February 2019, the Government of Alberta announced it would be providing Alberta Health Services $5.2 million to build the new dialysis clinic after seeing a need for it in the region.
