COVID-19 UPDATE: September 8

On September 8, Alberta Health Services confirmed 619 new cases of COVID-19 over the long weekend, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 15,093.

Five people passed away in that time period, and 242 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

In the North Zone, there are 1,112 cases of COVID-19 and 31 people have passed away.

There are currently 212 active cases in our zone with 66 cases in Mackenzie County, 22 cases in Clear Hills County, nine in the County of Northern Lights, and six each in the Municipal District of Fairview and the Municipal District of Spirit River.

AHS is reporting that 13,154 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 1,692 active cases across Alberta.

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.
