COVID-19 UPDATE: March 30

On March 30, Alberta Health Services confirmed 576 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 147,461.

Four people passed away, which means 1,987 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

301 people are currently in hospital due to COVID.

In the North Zone, there are 13,863 cases of COVID-19 and 147 people have passed away.

There are currently 906 active cases in our zone with 131 in Mackenzie County, 29 in the MD of Greenview, 17 in the MD of Peace, 10 in Big Lakes County, six in Northern Sunrise County, while all other jurisdictions in our area have four or less active cases.

AHS is reporting that 137,499 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 7,975 active cases across Alberta.

Outbreaks have been declared at the following facilities:

  • Mighty Peace Chevrolet, Buick, GMC
  • Peace River Correctional Centre

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.

The Government of Alberta also made masks mandatory indoors.
