COVID-19 UPDATE: March 29

On March 29, Alberta Health Services confirmed 545 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 146,885.

No one passed away, which means 1,983 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

288 people are currently in hospital due to COVID.

In the North Zone, there are 13,776 cases of COVID-19 and 146 people have passed away.

There are currently 889 active cases in our zone with 149 in Mackenzie County, 27 in the MD of Greenview, 18 in the MD of Peace, 11 in Big Lakes County, six in Northern Sunrise County, while all other jurisdictions in our area have four or less active cases.

AHS is reporting that 136,980 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 7,922 active cases across Alberta.

Outbreaks have been declared at the following facilities:

  • Mighty Peace Chevrolet, Buick, GMC
  • Peace River Correctional Centre
  • Valleyview Health Centre

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.

The Government of Alberta also made masks mandatory indoors.
