COVID-19 UPDATE: February 18

On February 18, Alberta Health Services confirmed 415 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 130,030.

Seven people passed away, which means 1,805 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

362 people are currently in hospital due to COVID.

In the North Zone, there are 11,079 cases of COVID-19 and 129 people have passed away.

There are currently 799 active cases in our zone with 86 in Mackenzie County, 59 in the MD of Greenview, 40 in the MD of Peace, 22 in Big Lakes County, 12 in Northern Sunrise County, while all other jurisdictions in our area have three or less active cases.

AHS is reporting that 123,338 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 4,887 active cases across Alberta.

Outbreaks have been declared at the following facilities:

  • Knowledge Tree Childcare Centre, Valleyview
  • Peace River Correctional Centre
  • Points West Living, Peace River
  • Stone Brook Lodge, Grimshaw
  • Sugarplum Tree Daycare, Peace River
  • Tolko Industries, High Level

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.

The Government of Alberta also made masks mandatory indoors
