COVID-19 UPDATE: February 12

On February 12, Alberta Health Services confirmed 314 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 128,235.

16 people passed away, which means 1,760 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

371 people are currently in hospital due to COVID.

In the North Zone, there are 10,741 cases of COVID-19 and 123 people have passed away.

There are currently 710 active cases in our zone with 37 in the MD of Greenview, 32 in Mackenzie County, 27 in the MD of Peace, 26 in Big Lakes County, 13 in Northern Sunrise County, while all other jurisdictions in our area have three or less active cases.

AHS is reporting that 121,068 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 5,407 active cases across Alberta.

Outbreaks have been declared at the following facilities:

  • Peace River Correctional Centre
  • Points West Living, Peace River
  • Stone Brook Lodge, Grimshaw
  • Sugarplum Tree Daycare, Peace River
  • Tolko Industries, High Level

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.

The Government of Alberta also made masks mandatory indoors
