COVID-19 UPDATE: December 7

On December 7, Alberta Health Services confirmed 1,735 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 70,301.

16 people passed away, including one in the northern zone, which means 631 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

In the North Zone, there are 4,592 cases of COVID-19 and 49 people have passed away, including two in the latest update.

There are currently 1,147 active cases in our zone with 35 in the MD of Peace, 22 in the MD of Greenview and Northern Sunrise County, 16 in Big Lakes County, 15 in Mackenzie County, while all other jurisdictions in our area have two active cases or less.

AHS is reporting that 49,403 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 20,678 active cases across Alberta.

Outbreaks have been declared at the following places:

  • Fairview Health Complex
  • Peace River Correctional Facility

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.

It is also recommended you wear a mask if social distancing is not possible.
