COVID-19 UPDATE: December 11

On December 11, Alberta Health Services confirmed 1,738 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 76,762.

18 people passed away, which means 684 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

In the North Zone, there are 4,445 cases of COVID-19 and 54 people have passed away, including two people in the latest update.

There are currently 1,240 active cases in our zone with 30 in the MD of Peace, 26 in Mackenzie County, 24 in Northern Sunrise County, 18 in the MD of Greenview, 14 in Big Lakes County, while all other jurisdictions in our area have two or less active cases.

AHS is reporting that 55,947 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 20,161 active cases across Alberta.

Outbreaks have been declared at the following places:

  • Heimstaed Lodge, LaCrete
  • Peace River Correctional Facility

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.

The Government of Alberta also made masks mandatory indoors
