COVID-19 UPDATE: August 24

On August 24, Alberta Health Services confirmed 258 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 72 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 12,748.

Four people passed away in the last 72 hours, including the eighth death in Mackenzie County.

234 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

In the North Zone, there are 808 cases of COVID-19 and 27 people have passed away.

There are currently 133 active cases in our zone with 52 cases in Mackenzie County, nine cases in the County of Northern Lights, and five each in the MD of Peace and Clear Hills County.

AHS is reporting that 11,600 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 1,172 active cases across Alberta.

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.
