COVID-19 UPDATE: August 19

On August 19, Alberta Health Services confirmed 82 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 12,501.

Two people passed away, including a person in Mackenzie County. 227 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

In the North Zone, there are 736 cases of COVID-19 and 24 people have passed away.

There are currently 103 active cases in our zone with 46 cases in Mackenzie County, seven cases in the County of Northern Lights, and five in the MD of Peace.

AHS is reporting that 11,167 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 1,107 active cases across Alberta.

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.
