Charles Simoneau excited to become Alberta Canola Region 3 Director

The Alberta Canola Producers Commission will have some new faces on its Board of Directors in the upcoming term.

Charles Simoneau is the incoming Region 3 Director and we had a chance to congratulate him and feature him on the River Country Ag Show.

Simoneau’s term will begin in January 2022 after the Alberta Canola Annual General Meeting.

Simoneau has been a producer in the Smoky River region near Falher since 1995; taking over his retired father in-law’s generational farm.

Three points Simoneau wants to advocate on behalf of canola producers in the region are:

  1. Research for development in the Peace,
  2. Market development on a regional, provincial and international level,
  3. Working with provincial and federal governments on risk mitigation and strategies fro producers dealing with issues in the region such as early frosts.

“I’ve been on quite a few local boards, but this gives me an opportunity on a provincial board and to learn a lot about what Alberta Canola is doing specifically and spending our dollars, having some input and maybe help me look at other things down the road… so I’m very much looking forward to it.” says Simoneau.
