Auto dialer available to inform residents of negative COVID-19 results

Alberta Health Services is using technology to inform people tested for COVID-19 of negative test results.

Last week, AHS gave anyone who was tested for the virus the option to receive negative test results via an automated call.

The health agency says it used the auto dialer program in the Calgary Zone between April 2 and April 12 and decided to expand it to all health zones.

AHS adds that 6,685 residents in the Calgary area elected to receive negative results via the auto dialer, and 95 percent of people called were reached.

If the program cannot connect with someone, are redialed by the auto dialer later in the day, or followed up directly by Health Link, ensuring everyone receives their results.

AHS says use of auto dialer technology allows healthcare teams to focus their follow-up work on Albertans with positive test results. It also shortens turn-around time on test results, helping Albertans learn of their results sooner.
