The Alberta RCMP reminds drivers to ensure the safety of emergency and roadside workers by reducing speed and changing lanes when approaching stopped vehicles flashing lights.

This includes police officers, paramedics, firefighters, and highway maintenance personnel.

Drivers should slow to 60 km/h or the posted limit, move over if safe, stay alert, avoid distractions, and refrain from filming emergency scenes.

Non-compliance can lead to fines and demerits.

Additionally, when an emergency vehicle approaches with lights and sirens, motorists must signal, pull over to the right, stop completely, and remain stopped until it has passed.
