Alberta Wheat Commission holding regional meeting in Fairview

November 17, 2021 – The Alberta Wheat Commission is inviting producers to attend the regional meeting in Fairview next week.

Region 5 Director for the AWC, David Bartlett was on the River Country Ag Show to tell us all about what they do and why it’s important to attend the meeting.

Bartlett is from the Fairview area and runs a mid-sized operation with his two sons.

Bartlett said on the Ag Show the AWC is a “farmer-led, farmer-financed commission and it’s primary goal is to increase the profitability of every wheat farmer in the province.”

The AWC is holding the Region 5 regional meeting in Fairview at the Dunvegan Inn and Suites on November 23. It will also include the Alberta Barley Commission and Pulse Growers.

Bartlett says “A number of issues will be discussed; one of them is the potential amalgamation of the Alberta Barley and Alberta Wheat Commissions into an umbrella commission.”

Alberta’s Restrictions Exemption Program is in effect for the meeting.

The event starts at 8:30 a.m., and is online if you cannot attend in person. To register for the webinar, click here.
