
Alberta’s cases of the measles are continuing to increase.
The province has now confirmed 710 total cases, the most cases in a calendar year since 1986, when 843 cases were reported.
The initial outbreak this year began in March and the disease has spread throughout the spring.
More new cases have popped up in the North Zone, with a total now up to 69.
Alberta Health Services today also announced more “exposure alerts” that happened last week in High Level and Fort Vermilion.
In High Level, the Northwest Health Centre on the morning of May 28 in both the Emergency Department and the Labour and Delivery area.
In Fort Vermilion, the St. Theresa General Hospital Emergency Department in the overnight hours between May 28 and 29.
Officials have also released data on childhood measles immunization coverage.
The geographic area with the lowest? High Level at just 14%.
