AJHL Schedule Released, Storm To Begin On September 17

gp-storm-logo

After having a truncated schedule last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic the AJHL will have a full season in 2021-22. All the teams will play 60 games in the regular season, the league will be back up to 16 teams with the addition of the Blackfalds Bulldogs.

The league will also be doing an interesting experiment during the pre-season games with a unique overtime format. Overtime will consist of a 6-minute sudden victory period starting with 3-on-3 play, then moving to 2-on-2 at the first whistle after the 4:00 minute mark, and to 1-on-1 at the first whistle after the 2:00 minute mark. If the score remains tied after overtime a best-of-three shootout will follow.

The AJHL Playoffs will begin on March 4. Due to the BCHL no longer being a part of the CJHL, the Doyle Cup which is normally held between the BCHL and AJHL champions will not be held. Instead the AJHL champion will get an automatic berth into the National Junior A Championship, the Centennial Cup. That will happen from May 20-29 in Estevan, SK.
