September 10, 2021 – Cenovus Energy is coming back to Rainbow Lake for regularly scheduled charter service for residents in the area.
The air service will operate two times a week and go from Rainbow Lake to Calgary or Edmonton starting on September 20, 2021.
The charter aircraft will be operated by Sunwest Aviation and is not commercial, so there are different policies and procedures in place that people need to be aware of before booking a ticket:
- Cenovus/Sunwest Aviation will collect your full name and credit card information during the reservation process.
- Reservations must be made at least three business days prior to your planned departure day.
- Cancellations must be made at within at least three business days before departure or will be subject to a cancellation penalty of $125.
- Max check-in luggage weight is 30lbs per person. There will be no opportunity to pay for additional weight. Carry on luggage must fit underneath the seat as the aircraft does not have overhead luggage compartments.
- Valid government issued photo ID will be required at airport check-in.
- You will need to provide a credit card to book a ticket. Sunwest Aviation does not accept cheques, cash or gift cards for chartered flights.
The scheduled times for the flights Monday and Friday are:
- Leave Calgary 8 a.m. -Arrive Edmonton 9 a.m.
- Leave Edmonton 9:30 a.m. – Arrive Rainbow Lake 11:15 a.m.
- Leave Rainbow Lake 12:30 p.m. – Arrive Edmonton 2 p.m.
- Leave Edmonton 2:30 p.m. – Arrive Calgary 3:30 p.m.
Flights one way will cost $250 plus GST to/from Edmonton and $300 plus GST to/from Calgary.
