AFAC helping with livestock affected by smoke (Sarah Linde)

Despite the rains in the beginning part of the week, smoke and air quality continues to be an issue in the Peace and Mackenzie Regions.

Some municipalities and area have had to be evacuated because of approaching wildfires, while others have had to tough it out with the smoke in the air.

That issue is also affecting livestock as well.

The Alberta Farm Animal Care Organization is providing help to area farmers and ranchers in the aid of their herds being affected by wildfire activity.

Some livestock have had to be evacuated as well, to neighboring Ag. Societies, while others have been left behind in the hopes that farmers and ranchers come back to their herds without consequences.

Sarah Linde is the Extension Coordinator of the Alberta Farm Animal Care Organization, based in Calgary.
