The Village of Berwyn has shared the results of the community’s Traffic Calming & Speed Survey Results Report. The survey was conducted between February 23 and March 6, which garnered 94 responses from residents, property owners, and other stakeholders.
According to the report, 47% of respondents said they are concerned about speeding within the community. In addition, 58% of respondents would support some form of speed limit reduction. The survey also found that 71% of respondents would be in favour of removing the highly debated existing speed bumps.
Taking the survey results into consideration, Council has directed administration to move forward with reducing the speed limit on 50 Street to 30km/h. In addition, the Community Advisory Committee was asked to provide two digital speed readers for installation along 50 Street — one at the north end and one at the south end of the community.
Village council agreed the current speed bumps near parks and playgrounds will remain in place, particularly in the Glenmeyer Park area, citing ongoing pedestrian and child safety concerns.
Village officials thanked residents who took part in the survey and shared their feedback. The full survey summary report is available through the Village of Berwyn survey report link.
