The Town of Fairview has approved its 2026 budget with no increase to municipal taxes—continuing a streak that dates back to 2013.

Council also received its 2025 audited financial statements from MNP, reporting a surplus of just over $151,000. That surplus will be directed into stabilization and capital reserves.

In infrastructure, design work is nearly complete on a $2 million treated reservoir upgrade, with construction expected to wrap up this fall.

Council approved a new Community Supports and Donations Policy, introducing a more formal process for funding requests.

Several committees are moving forward, including a newly formed Centennial Planning Committee, while economic development efforts and the transition of the Fairview Regional College campus continue. A local non-profit is expected to operate the campus moving forward.

On the housing front, a new strategy aimed at encouraging diverse development will be released soon.

Meanwhile, Energy Alberta is consulting with municipalities on a proposed nuclear power project north of Peace River.

And starting this September, Northern Lakes College plans to resume programming at the Fairview Campus, with hiring already underway.
