Residents in Peace River are being urged to stay alert as the community enters a high-risk period during the spring break-up.
Officials warn that water levels can rise quickly, especially in low-lying areas like Lower West Peace, Downtown, the North End, Heart River, and Pat’s Creek. Changing conditions could leave little time to react if flooding occurs.
People living in these مناطق are advised to have an emergency kit ready, prepare to leave on short notice, and ensure everyone in the household knows the evacuation plan. Checking in with neighbours who may need assistance is also encouraged.
Residents should sign up for alerts through Voyent Alert. In the event of an evacuation, notifications will also be sent through Alberta Emergency Alerts and official town channels.
Authorities say ice jam flooding is difficult to predict, but monitoring is ongoing. For now, the message is simple: stay informed, stay prepared, and be ready to act quickly.
