The County of Northern Lights is marking 19 years of support for STARS Ambulance emergency service.
Council notes it has long recognized the importance of ensuring residents have access to medical care and emergency response. That commitment is reflected in a number of ongoing partnerships and funding initiatives aimed at strengthening health services across the region.
The County currently sits on three physician Attraction and Retention committees in Grimshaw, Manning and Peace River, working to help secure doctors and other medical professionals for the area. It also provides accommodations for locum doctors in a County-owned home in the Town of Manning. In addition, the County provides an annual donation to STARS Ambulance in support of its life-saving operations.
To celebrate the 19-year milestone, Glenda Farnden, STARS Senior Municipal Relations Liaison, presented Council with a framed photo of the organization’s Airbus H145 helicopter — a symbol of the critical care and rapid response STARS delivers.
