In Peace River, Alberta, 39-year-old Jeremy Lori Mitchell has been sentenced to 45 days in jail minus seven days’ credit for time served, after pleading to resisting a peace officer.
The charge stems from a September 17, 2025, incident where Mitchell fled from police, leading them on a foot chase through downtown and into the river, where he became stranded against a bridge pillar.
The Peace River Fire Department assisted in his apprehension.
Mitchell also received additional sentences for separate charges, including possession of stolen property, and faces an upcoming trial related to a June arrest.
