The newly formed Fairview Regional College Transition Committee (FRCTC) held its first official meeting on November 28, 2025, marking the beginning of a coordinated regional effort to shape the future of post-secondary education in the Fairview area.
Created to provide a unified regional voice, the FRCTC aims to develop a long-term proposal for a community-aligned “Fairview Regional College.” The committee includes representatives from the Town of Fairview, Municipal District of Fairview No. 136, the Village of Hines Creek, Clear Hills County, the Municipal District of Peace 135, and the Heart of the Peace Investment Coop, along with seven members at large.
During its inaugural meeting, the committee reviewed and confirmed its Terms of Reference and appointed its leadership. Gord MacLeod will serve as Chair, Heather Kerschbaumer as Vice-Chair, and Jenna Armstrong as Media and Communications lead. Tegan Martin Drysdale was named Legal Coordinator and will work with Field Law, while John Przybylski was appointed Post-Secondary Institution Preparation Coordinator.
The committee also noted that officials from Alberta’s Ministry of Advanced Education plan to visit Fairview on December 8 and 9 for continued discussions, though these dates remain to be confirmed.
Work is already underway to outline what a future Fairview Regional College could look like, including potential programming, governance, and institutional structure. An advisory group of post-secondary experts will be created to support this work.
To advance legal, financial, and administrative planning, the committee estimates that $40,000 will be needed in 2025 and $35,000 in 2026. These funds will be raised entirely through donations and will not come from Town of Fairview tax revenue. Contact the Town of Fairview should you like to contribute – tax receipts are available.
The committee emphasized its commitment to providing transparent and ongoing public updates as it works toward a stable, long-term solution for the Fairview Campus.
The next meeting of the FRCTC is scheduled for today (December 5).
