The Health Sciences Association Alberta (HSAA) has rat a new collective agreement with Alberta Health Services (HS) and provincial health agencies, concluding nearly two years of negotiations.
In a province-wide vote held between November 20 and November 25, 15,724 members participated, with 66.8% voting in favor of the agreement.
The turnout was notably high, with 76% of eligible members casting ballots.
This four-year agreement encompasses over 22,000 healthcare professionals, including paramedics, diagnostic imaging technologists, mental health and addictions counsellors, and social workers.
Key provisions include a 12% general wage increase over four years, additional market adjustments for certain professions, and a $54 million Rural Capacity Investment Fund aimed at enhancing recruitment and retention in rural areas.
The agreement also introduces improvements in benefits, working conditions, and professional development opportunities, reflecting a concerted effort to support and retain Alberta’s vital healthcare workforce.
