- The case of a missing teen from Swan River has ended happily. 16 year-old Gage Cadorette-Lawrence has been located, and is safe.
Cadorette-Lawrence was last seen two months ago leaving Kinuso school, maybe heading towards Edmonton. - Peace Regional RCMP have arrested three people on outstandings warrants.
Proactive patrols on Thursday in Simon Lake led to the apprehensions, although some tried to play a game of Hide and Seek. - Peace Regional Police are searching for suspects in a stolen vehicle report at an oil site in Northern Sunrise County.
Earlier this month, the suspect vehicle entered the site, where a passenger gets out, steals a parked truck, and both vehicles flee. - The Fairview Fire Department has a new member of the fleet. A brand-new Rescue truck has arrived, replacing the old 1992 rescue unit.
- Changes in providers for garbage collecting in Peace River start on December 1st. The town announced Prairie Disposal is taking over from GFL at that time.
Delivery of new black garbage carts are to be delivered to homes this week, while GFL collects garbage for the final time, next week. - Alberta’s Healthcare workers are preparing to vote on a newly negotiated agreement to avoid strike action.
Members start voting on the new proposal, on Thursday morning. - The Provincial Government has begun canvassing residents on Budget priorities for 2026.
A survey has been posted on-line until mid-January regarding feedback on the finances from businesses, municipalities, community groups, industry organizations and other stakeholders. - Registration is being accepted for the 2026 Alberta Pond Hockey Championships.
Women’s teams, Men’s teams and Junior teams are open to players of all ages, and all skill levels. The Championships are next March at Lac Cardinal, near Grimshaw. - Three Canadian teams are in action in the NHL today. Calgary is in Chicago, Columbus is in Winnipeg, and St. Louis is in Toronto.
- A mix of sun and cloud is in the forecast for Northwestern Alberta today, but an extra layer is needed.
