The Peace River Community Health Centre has been renamed the Marshall Eliuk Peace River Community Health Centre, following a generous $3 million donation from former local businessman and philanthropist Marshall Eliuk to the Peace River and District Health Foundation
An additional $100,000 contribution will see the health centre’s atrium named in his honour.
Dan Williams, Peace River MLA and Minister of Municipal Affairs, expressed gratitude, stating, “Marshall Eliuk’s generosity signals confidence in local healthcare — and in the potential for our northern communities to thrive.”
Matt Jones, Minister of Hospital and Surgical Health Services, added that Eliuk’s contributions will “strengthen healthcare in Peace River and the surrounding area, ensuring families have access to high-quality care now and for generations to come.”
Eliuk, a well-known Alberta entrepreneur and philanthropist, has a history of supporting health initiatives, including a $3 million donation in 2018 to the University of Alberta Hospital’s hematology program.
Reflecting on his latest contribution, Eliuk stated, “I see this gift as a way to help my community, so patients can get excellent care close to home.”
The Marshall Eliuk Peace River Community Health Centre will continue to offer a comprehensive range of services, including ambulatory and outpatient care, diagnostics, stroke care, primary care clinics, and community health programs, under the stewardship of Alberta Health Services.
Foundation chair Will Petluk highlighted the impact of Eliuk’s donation, noting it as “the single largest in our foundation’s history,” which will enable modernization and expansion of services, improve patient comfort, and attract top health professionals to the region.
This significant contribution underscores a shared commitment to enhancing healthcare services and community well-being in Peace River and the surrounding areas.
