Westlock RCMP arrest High Prairie person

On October 21, 2025 at approximately 2:05 p.m., Westlock RCMP responded to a stabbing incident at a local store.

A store employee was stabbed by a suspected shoplifter.

The suspect was quickly apprehended without incident.

The victim received medical attention and was transported to the hospital; their condition remains undisclosed.

The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Julian Kooteney of High Prairie, Alberta, faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Kooteney was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Morinville on October 23, 2025.

RCMP Detachment Commander Staff Sgt. Jeff Sehn emphasized the importance of reporting suspicious activities, stating that such reports enable law enforcement to swiftly apprehend suspects and link them to prior incidents.
