The Alberta Teachers Association has rejected the government’s proposal for enhanced mediation.

The offer further enhances the chances of Teachers being legislated back to work.

Teachers have been on Strike since October 6th, and have been locked out since October 9th.

No new talks are scheduled at this time, as the Provincial Government opens the Fall Session on Thursday.

The Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) has rejected the Provincial Bargaining and Compensation Office’s (PBCO) proposal for enhanced mediation, which aimed to end the ongoing teachers’ strike and resume classes on Monday.

The PBCO expressed disappointment, stating that the ATA’s refusal prolongs the strike’s impact on students.

The government emphasized its commitment to increasing teacher pay, hiring more educators and assistants, and expanding classrooms.

With the strike entering its third week, concerns about potential irreparable harm to students’ education are growing.

The government is considering further options to resolve the dispute if the ATA does not act in the best interests of its members and Alberta students.
