Alberta’s Minimum Wage stays at $15.00

canadian-money

Five Canadian provinces—Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island—have increased their minimum wage rates to help workers cope with rising living costs.

These adjustments are linked to the Consumer Price Index, reflecting inflation trends.

In Ontario, the minimum wage has risen to $17.60 per hour. Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island now both have a rate of $16.50 per hour. Manitoba’s minimum wage is set at $16.00 per hour, while Saskatchewan’s has increased to $15.35 per hour.

With these changes, Alberta now has the lowest minimum wage in Canada at $15.00 per hour, a rate unchanged since 2018.

Earlier this year, British Columbia, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador also raised their minimum wages, reflecting a nationwide effort to support workers amid affordability challenges.
