Core Service Delivery In Williams Mandate Letter

cabinet-dan-williams-4

Premier Danielle Smith has been issuing mandate letters to her cabinet ministers on some goals the government wants accomplished.

That includes Peace River MLA Dan Williams who’s the Minister for Municipal Affairs.

He says he’ll be focused on helping municipalities in delivering “core services”.

“Especially when you look at some of the larger centres in the province, they have a key responsibility in delivering services. They should be fixing water mains that are broken or potholes in the streets, wastewater, water delivery. Those are key core services. They don’t need to be engaging in woke and DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) politics.”

Williams adds he’ll be looking to continue building and maintaining the relationship he has with municipalities.

Another one of his key points is on the accessibility of new housing starts.

“Alberta has lead the country this year with one quarter of every new house started in the country being in Alberta. It’s an incredible opportunity for us to make sure that we lead the country and lead the pack. We’ll have housing starts in the Peace country and access to that just the same as the rest. I’ll be looking to reduce red tape and speed up permitting on the municipal and provincial levels.”

Williams says streamlining those approvals will enable the timely development of affordable housing.
