  1. HAPPY FIRST DAY OF FALL!!!
  2. On Wednesday, Peace River police patrols found 39 year-old Jeremy Lori Mitchell downtown, but he tried to escape by leading a chase on the streets, through the woods, and eventually into the Peace River itself.
  3. Police in the Peace Region are looking for clues in a theft and assault case.
    While the initial search was on, a second report of assault with a weapon and robbery, was brought forward.
  4. Discussions are continuing on the proposed Nuclear Power plant in the Peace River area.
    Public Engagement Meetings are happening today through Thursday at various venues across the region.
  5. The writ has been dropped on Municipal Politics, as of Noon today. Nomination forms are due today, for interested parties running for Council.
    Unofficial candidates lists will be out this afternoon, the official list will be out later this week.
  6. Fall Clean-up in the Peace Region is underway… Residents had until 7:00 this morning to put large items for disposal at the front of their properties.
    Fridges, freezers and A/C units needed be tagged “refrigerant-free” by a certified technician, and items was not to exceed 3 metres in length or 200 pounds.
  7. Football Alberta has their high school rankings out for this week.
    Peace River is still the number one ranked team for 9-a-side, the Pioneers coming off a 52-7 win over Whitecourt last week.
    This week, Drayton Valley is in Peace River on Saturday.
  8. In Baseball, The Toronto Blue Jays have the day off today to celebrate clinching a playoff spot. The Jays start a three-game set tomorrow, at home to Boston.
    The Jays magic number to clinch the Division, and the #1 seed in the American League, is 4.
  9. The NFL Monday-nighter is Detroit at Baltimore.
  10. Sunshine is in store for the next few days, but temperatures will get slightly cooler as the week progresses.
    Highs this afternoon will be at 20 degrees, with lows tonight around 10, but lows will cool of as well during the week. The Big Lakes might see some rain on Thursday.
